You can’t blame us for jumping the gun on Isaac Mizrahi‘s birthday. We weren’t alive for “the Rising Star of SoHo” days, Paulina Porizkova‘s Vogue cover or basically all his earlier achievements, but, by George, we can try to make up for that with a good, thorough YouTube search.
What we found was this vintage commercial for Isaac, the larger-than-life designer’s lower-priced line, in which a 13-year-old (!) Natalie Portman gazes out a window, takes off her sunglasses for the paparazzi and hides from boys to the tune of John Coltrane‘s “My Favorite Things.”
Marvel at how very Audrey Hepburn-like Natalie looks here and just try not to “awwwwww” at the slogan. Happy birthday, dear Isaac. Happy birthday to you.
