And among the ones that did, there were some pretty clear cut trends. 1. High-Impact Jewelry
This year's gowns weren't the most exciting dresses we've ever seen, but the jewels made up for it. We just wish the costume-y pieces were actually costume priced .

2. Suits Of Armor
The Oscars were far from a fight, but lots of ladies would have been equipped for a throw down. With high collars, strong shoulders or fabrics that looked like metal, dresses never looked so battle-ready.
